If I had a hammer!

If you could learn a trade — say carpentry, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, plumbing, flooring, drywall — you name it — what skill(s) would you love to have in your back pocket?

Being a handyman can prove to be a real blessing!.  We do not need to raise our hands and shout for help everytime there is a small repair work at home.  Being an engineer, I love to tinker with stuff and try to repair stuff.  I have built my own amplifier system at home.  Ofcourse, I am not always successful and sometimes after all the effort, I have had to raise my hands and call the repair man.  But, most of the time, I will give it my best shot.

So if there is a blocked sink in the kitchen, there is a fan to be installed, some drilling to fix a showpiece,  cleaning the airconditioner,  replacing a tap, assembling furniture from Ikea or fixing a computer – I will try to check out if I have all the right tools before I set out on my mission.

DIY is interesting! Trying out these odd jobs has always proved to be a blessing for me as it has saved me a lot of hassle of trying to contact the plumber, electrician or a handyman!

Hello Sajeev! So good to see you blogging again. If I had to choose a skill, it would certainly be plumbing because you can live without electricity, but water is a necessity. Also, if you have a burst pipe or a blocked drain that can be a BIG mess. All the best 🙂

Thanks Melissa. I’m enjoying reading your travel posts and pictures from Peru. Cheers!
