Make Me Smile
If you’re feeling blah, what is the one thing you do that you can count on to put a smile on your face?
Smiles and laughter can recharge you and have a great effect on our well-being. Laughter and good humour is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is also contagious. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Llaughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humour and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress
I love to watch standup comedies, fun sitcoms like Friends, Seinfeld, Whose line is it anyway, Just for laughs etc. I also try to play with my daughter whenever I get time. Children have a natural sense of humour
and laugh much more than adults.
Watching cartoons like Tom & Jerry, Popeye with your child is also a great way to relax at home and enjoy some laughter.
Laughter teaches us not to take everything too seriously. It makes us lighten up and also lightens the mood of those around us.
Whether it is sharing a good joke, relating a humorous anecdote or watching a funny movie – we can inject some humour into our daily life to smile, enhance our personality and spread the good feeling to those around us.

5 Ways to Brighten your day
(This was first posted in Modern Life Blogs – http://www.modernlifeblogs.com/2013/01/5-ways-to-brighten-your-day/ )
We all have ups and downs in life. But, if we know how to maintain our equipoise when turbulent waters rock our boat, then we understand that life is all about embracing our true nature and living and cherishing each experience.
What are some of the ways that we can add life to our days?
1). Early to rise
The early morning is an ideal time for starting your day. Either by taking a long walk in the outdoors, spending time in prayer or meditation, yoga, jogging, planning the day ahead. The sound of the birds, the sunrise, and the serene atmosphere are ideal for these activities.
2). Enjoy breakfast with fresh juice
Breakfast is acknowledged by many to be the most important meal of the day. So instead of rushing to work, make sufficient time to enjoy a good breakfast with your family. A glass of fresh juice in the morning is very refreshing.
3). Take a break
If you have a sedentary job, it is important to take a break to stretch your legs or relax your hands and eyes. Looking at the monitor for long hours or typing at a keyboard for long can be strenuous.
4). Pursue your interest
All of us have a passion, an interest or a hobby. Be it playing soccer, reading, writing playing soccer or badminton, music, toastmasters etc. Making time for these activities is important as they fire up our passion and keep us motivated.
5). Bonding with family
With the advent of social media, technological gadgetry like smartphones, tablets and the like, we find no time for face-to-face communication. After work, we have to spend some time with our loved ones to strengthen our bonds.
By cherishing and expressing gratitude for the things that we have, we can add so much more meaning to our lives.
Splendour of love
The first look, that smile
A twitch of the lips
Flush of the cheeks
Cascade of heartbeats
Words unspoken
Yet a lot was said
We held our hands
And time just fled
Sweet innocent love
A roller-coaster ride
It made us laugh
And made us cry
We fought and made up
Over matters trivial
And laughed over it
All through the night
Birds flew in patterns
In the clear sky so blue
Everywhere bright flowers
Welcomed us with delight
Stay young O love
Peaceful and content
As you illumine our lives
With a radiant splendour

Innocence
Those sparkling eyes, that charming smile
That countenance full of love
You cast a spell on everyone,
Innocence, you are a child!
Your naughty pranks, your witty lies,
Your cries and your giggles
I have no answer to your endless queries
Innocence, you are a child!
You know no caste, you know no creed
You know no envy and pride
You put to shame, men at war
Innocence, you are a child!
I watch you sleep, undisturbed
A picture of serenity!
With a smile on your face and a tear in your eye
Innocence, you are a child!
