The Project Management profession is gaining importance with the increasing awareness of the achievement of project management teams worldwide.

Companies are realising the importance of setting up a Program Management Office and Portfolio Management Office to strategise decision making on projects. The PMP certification is a first step in the direction to becoming a Project Management Professional.

I took my certification exam on 27th April 2010. I referred to the PMBOK guide and the guides by Rita Mulcahy and Andy Crowe. Besides these, I benefited the most from listening to PM PrepCast an excellent podcast – a series of 120 video and audio lessons that you can watch at your own schedule even while travelling. It gives a classroom style training and is rich in practical tips and techniques.
