The future is all around us!

Peter Drucker believed that a major task in building the future is to determine “the future that has already happened”

If we observe around us robotics and AI are all around us. Changi airport in Singapore uses robotic cleaners. Terminal 4 has automation right from self check-in and bag drop at departure to immigration clearance and boarding with a view to provide fast and seamless travel. This has resulted in its ability to process 20 to 30% more passengers per hour (source: Channel News Asia 1st Nov 2018)

My answer to todays prompt is  the lyrics of the song Que Sera Sera” was written by Livingston, Jay / Evans, Ray

When I was just a little boy
I asked my mother, “What will I be?

Here’s what she said to me

When I grew up, I fell in love

Future

Photographers, artists, poets: show us FUTURE.

I hope I am still a human – and not with a chip planted into my skin which holds all information about me.
I hope that I can still share on my blog with fellow bloggers.
I hope that along with the great technological advances we still maintain our humility, love and graciousness.
I hope that we still have books around to read.
I hope that we still travel a lot and take time away from the gadgets that are distracting us.
I hope that progress does not make a monster out  of man. I hope that we still have gratitude for what we are blessed and endowed with.

I can only hope because the future is not something to foretell. Our present is the  blueprint for our future.  So the  best thing to do is to pray that by the grace of God, we create a world of peace, goodwill and harmony for the generations to come!

The future is now!

Everwhere robots
and flying machines!
Smart glasses to surf
And smart watches that talk
Will we have time?
To sit down and chat

All your life encoded
In one smart chip
Who is real and
Who is a clone?
Will we have time?
To relax or take a nap

Driverless cars
And invisible cloaks
Instant cures
For aging and disease
Will we have time?
To feel the sweet breeze

All that I know
Is this moment
Let us fill it with love
and laughter and fun
Why bother about time?
The future is now!

Life is not a rocket launch!

10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1….Blast-off…. The rocket ship takes off into space.  Precision and accurate planning are vital for its launch into space.  Now, does our life need this much planning?

I find people who love to plan to every minute  detail , every small event, every small experience in their life.  Doesn’t that sap the fun out of our lives?  The quirky mannerisms, the failures, the jokes and impromptu behaviours make our moments fun.  Rigorous discipline into everything can lead to monotony and boredom.

It is a different thing when we set out on a big endeavour, a project, a business , en enterprise etc.  Here it is very important to look at risks, plan, organize etc so that we can arrive at our goal without making the same mistakes over and over again.

The problem with looking too much into the future is to make our plans realistic.  Instead of living in the moment and putting all our focus on the job we tend to get caught up in worries about the future.

Can you plan for a bungy jump, a free-fall, death?

Numerous other factors come into play in any event.  And that is what we under-estimate.  I have a friend who prepared very well for her exams but forgot the timing and came in to write the exam in the afternoon after the exam was over.  These events highlight the importance of everything coming together to make an event a success.  After doing our part we have to let go, and pray that things work out best.

We can live in the moment, enjoying and not getting into the nitty-gritty of everything.  Can we plan for everything?  I would like to have your thoughts

Fear

We shrink and we shrivel
Shivers go through our spine
It causes us to shriek and shout
We get palpitations and
Break into a sweat
What is this thing called fear?

Fear of failure
Fear of loss
Fear of the future
Fear of the dark
Fear of heights
Fear of the unknown

Let not your mind wander
into doubts and confusion
Courage and confidence
can quell all self-doubt
Take a deep breath
Recover your poise
There is nothing to fear
But fear itself!
