Dream
What is the best dream you’ve ever had? Recount it for us in all its ethereal glory. If no dream stands out in your memory, recount your worst nightmare. Leave no frightening detail out.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us IMAGINARY.
(This is a poem which I had published last year and here I would like to post it again)
A gathering of familiar faces
Of relatives and of friends
A vexing thought revisited
In the canvas of my dream
From the inner recesses
Out of the blue
Objects, characters and emotions
Enact the play in my mind
Screams and sighs
Echoes of laughter
Chased by a tiger
Fights with that school bully
A medley of thoughts
Hidden desires
Resurface and unfold
In a whole new world
A reverie to remember
Or a nightmare best forgotten
Lost in this maze
Of my minds kaleidoscope
The alarm ring resonates
And I wake up with a start
Befuddled by this conundrum
That they call ‘A Dream’

Step-cut and bell-bottoms
Ah, sweet youth. No matter whether you grew up sporting a fedora, penny loafers, poodle skirts, bell-bottoms, leg-warmers, skinny jeans, Madonna-inspired net shirts and rosaries, goth garb, a spikey mohawk, or even a wave that would put the Bieber to shame, you made a fashion statement, unique to you. Describe your favorite fashions from days of yore or current trends you think are stylin’.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us FAD.
When I was growing up Bollywood movies were the trendsetter in fashion. The outstanding fad in those years (1970s – 80s) that I liked the most were the bell bottom pants and the step cut hair. Actors like Amitabh, Jeetendra, Amol Palekar , Rajesh Khanna and others sported these fads and the masses who watched these movies followed suit.

Society
Every city and town contains people of different classes: rich, poor, and somewhere in between. What’s it like where you live? If it’s difficult for you to discern and describe the different types of classes in your locale, describe what it was like where you grew up — was it swimming pools and movie stars, industrial and working class, somewhere in between or something completely different?

I grew up in beautiful Goa known for its beaches, churches, temples and down-to-earth people. A place where people were content, easy-going and fun.
Goa was a Portuguese colony and Carnival is still celebrated with great pomp and splendour.
People love to visit Goa as a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Lucky star
Today is your lucky day. You get three wishes, granted to you by The Daily Post. What are your three wishes and why?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us WISHES.
My 3 wishes would be:
1. World Peace: On this Valentines day, I wish for a world which is free from fear and lives in peace. A world not divided by narrow mindedness, caste, creed and colour.
2. Alleviation of Poverty: Today if there is more kindness around, it is possible for the rich nations and top
net-worth individuals to help to alleviate some poverty in those nations like Sudan, Ethiopia etc where children are malnourished and live in abject poverty. Ofcourse, the ideal situation would be where everyone would contribute based on their capacity.
3. Education for all: My wish would be for a world where education can reach the nooks and corners of every village. Where NGOs, voluntary organisations and private companies work supported by governments to make sure that every child has access to basic education.

Take that, Rosetta!
If you could wake up tomorrow and be fluent in any language you don’t currently speak, which would it be? Why? What’s the first thing you do with your new linguistic skills?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us TONGUE.
Voila, Je peux parler francais.
Yes, if I could wake up and speak fluently in a foreign language – it would be french. I learnt french in school for 3 years and am familiar with the basics. We learnt about the french culture and some of the beautiful historical monuments.
I have not visited France and would love to be able to communicate fluently.
Parlez-vous francais?

The Show Must Go On
If you were involved in a movie, would you rather be the director, the producer, or the lead performer? (Note: you can’t be the writer!).
Photographers, artists, poets: show us CELEBRITY.
(Pic courtesy: entertainment.howstuffworks.com)
I have so far only enjoyed watching movies. But today, I have been thrown into the limelight. Given a choice, I would opt for the role of director.
I am not a person who enjoys being in the spotlight. It would be very intimidating and I would be very uncomfortable. I am also not so rich as to finance a movie as a producer. So the best choice would be to opt for the role of director.
I would study the script before I agree to sign up for this role. Then I would get to know the actors, the film crew, cameraman, music composers and others. I would try to bring out the best in the actors and do justice to the script.
Ok. Are we ready for a shoot? – Lights, Camera, Action!

The Sincerest form of flattery
Publish a post in the style of a favorite author/blogger or photographer.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us COPIES.
Imitating the style of my favourite author P G Wodehouse is a herculean task as he has a unique, inimitable flavour to his writing. However, I will give it my shot!
I was expecting my b & e on time but today it was late. I shouted, “Jeeves”.
Jeeves replied, “Yes sir”.
From the corner of my eye I could see that he was using his i-pad. “Jeeves, Is that an i-pad”, I asked.
“Yes, sir”, he replied. and added “One has to keep up with the times”.
He rushed with the scrambled eggs, kippers and bacon. “Here you are, sir”.
“Jeeves, what do you think of these smartphones and tablets?, I asked”
“Sir, they are very addictive.. One has to use them judiciously”
“Right Ho, Jeeves, I replied”
