You are locked in a room with your greatest fear. Describe what is in the room.
Fear is an emotion that everyone experiences sometime in their life. Be it darkness, heights, spiders, cockroaches, loneliness, silence, ghosts etc.
Being Halloween season, it is a time to dress up in spooky outfits and scare the wits of your friends.
I believe that living humans are more scary than any ghost. There are many humans who harbor vengeance, racism, prejudices, anger and lust and these humans can be very dangerous. For some reason they have suffered a traumatic childhood or abuse of some kind and they grow up crying for attention. Such individuals need the help of society and if not they can resort to killing innocent people or wreaking havoc with peoples lives.
The greatest fear is of a repressed person – person who grows up in a family with stoic parents or is bullied in school or a wife who suffers daily abuse. When we lose our freedom of speech and expression an individual bottles up his/her feelings and eventually it will flare up and lead to an outburst. Societies who have been treated like slaves for years, have risen in revolt and overthrown dictatorial rulers.
So being locked in a room alone or with such a person is my greatest fear – fear of bondage.

Embrace the Ick
Think of something that truly repulses you. Hold that thought until your skin squirms. Now, write a glowing puff piece about its amazing merits.

Katsaridophobia – That is the what the fear of cockroaches is called. But for me more than the fear is the dislike/disgust at these creatures. They crawl up from nooks and corners in your home and can survive extreme conditions.
Both my wife and daughter scream for my help when they see one and dare not go anywhere near it.
They are disgusting because they are difficult to get rid off, they can sometimes fly and they can keep on multiplying in numbers.
For me the most effective way of dealing with a cockroach is by spraying baygon on them. They will flip over, and will run helter-skelter till they succumb to the effects of the insecticide.

Truth Serum
You’ve come into possession of one vial of truth serum. Who would you give it to
(with the person’s consent, of course) – and what questions would you ask?
Always say the truth they said
‘I swear’ was my anchor
But can truth be extracted through fear
Or administering a serum?
Will you tell the truth
If a lie could save a life?
Or tell your kid that Santa is a farce
And ruin his Christmas dreams?
There are no gags, no chains
All an illusion of the mind
Bondage is only ignorance
The truth will set you free
Like a free bird
Let us shed our inhibitions and fears
And rise like a phoenix from the ashes
Every time we fall
The truth is not a diktat
A decree etched in stone
Listen to the sweet song
Of your inner voice

Fright Night
What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us FRIGHTENING.
I would say I am quite scared of sky diving or bungy jumping. I would like to muster the courage to try out this someday!
I am posting here a poem which I have posted earlier on Fear
We shrink and we shrivel
Shivers go through our spine
It causes us to shriek and shout
We get palpitations and
Break into a sweat
What is this thing called fear?
Fear of failure
Fear of loss
Fear of the future
Fear of the dark
Fear of heights
Fear of the unknown
Let not your mind wander
into doubts and confusion
Courage and confidence
can quell all self-doubt
Take a deep breath
Recover your poise
There is nothing to fear
But fear itself!

Fright Night
Do you like being scared by books, films, and surprises? Describe the sensation of being scared, and why you love it — or don’t.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us FRIGHTENING.
I am not a fan of scary movies or books. But I have seen a few of them like The Omen, Exorcist, etc which are really scary.
In real life, I feel that humans are more scary than ghosts and it is them you have to be scared off. Some humans resort to evil practices like witchcraft, black magic and others to take revenge and disturb the lives of others.
When it comes to fears – I am scared of weird noises and ghosts. but I still believe that many of them are caused by humans living in the neighbourhood.
I am also afraid of creepy, crawly creatures like snakes and other reptiles.
Fear is mostly unwarranted and we have to keep our poise and presence of mind in scary, challenging situations. I would like to take up some daring adventurous tasks to conquer some of my fears.
