Onset of rain

Meandering across limitless skies
Dark grey clouds
A whiff of fresh air
brings the smell of dry earth

The first rains of the year
Fall down like pearls
And glitter like stars
On fresh green leaves

Little friends gather
In street side puddles
To play with paper boats
As soon as school breaks

Rain

Crying little drops of rain
Will set your heart afree
Rain falling from the clouds
Wash your sorrows away

The little child is all wet
Making paper boats in the puddle
Rain brings joy to him
An escape to another world

A shower of  rain is like
A blessing from the heavens
The farmer prays to you with all his heart
For a hearty downpour

Rain on my windowpane
Obscures the view outside
And my restless senses
Breathe a sigh of relief

The lady looks up at you with love
Your glistening drops render her face aglow
And drop by drop you roll down her face
Planting tender caress and sweet kisses

Childhood dreams

The tender, mellow  voice
Gentle laugh and sweet smiles
Your sweet caress endearing
The gladness of your looks

Climbing cashew trees
Crying over a scratched knee
Games that never stopped
Holidays memorable

School days and classes
Paper boats and aeroplanes
Calling each other names
Getting drenched in the rain

Soap bubbles and sand castles
Butterflies and Barbie dolls
Cartoons and enid blytons
And priceless grandma stories

Innocent questions and fervent pleas
Melts a stubborn heart
Your spontaneous giggle
Wipes away my tears

Tired eyes fall asleep
On hearing mothers lullaby
And fairies wade into your dreams
Of birds and sunshine

Meandering clouds

Snowy-white cotton balls
Magic carpet of eternal white
A white quilt for the blue sky
Soothing and comforting

Pearl-white candy floss
Across the  blue  skies
The sun like a small child
Bathes you in its  glow

An angel draped in her wedding gown
Waiting eagerly for her moment of bliss
Just in time the groom jets through
Lifting her off her feet

Meandering through infinite space
Slowly but purposefully
I see you change colours
Sparkling white, orange, yellow and crimson

We look at the sky in awe and wonder why
Your shapes keep changing all through the day
At times you turn dark and grey
And wave your magic wand to thunderous  applause

When the sun sets
You dazzle and sparkle
Like a peacock ecstatic
Showing its multicolour plumage

And when you are hurt
Tears fill your bosom
And fall down like pearls
As a blessing from heavens!

And butterflies flirt with flowers
When time comes to standstill

When blades of grass dance
And dew drops glisten on leaves
When birds sing in chorus

And  magic in the stars twinkle
When clouds pour ethereal rain

When there is a spring in your step
And a smile on your face
When you are at a loss for words
Then I know love is in the air

When two hearts beat as one
And tears and laughter play
The divine song of the soul
Then I know love is in the air
