Looking inward

January 10, 2014 1 comment

Tell us about the experience of being outside, looking in — however you’d like to interpret that.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us OUTSIDE.

Sight, sound, smell, taste and touch
Mesmerised my being
I jumped from one to another
Confounded by conundrums

Everything was so scintillating
The gadgets, the brands, the food
I was bowled over
Lost in the world outside

Engaged in trivial pursuits
The mind cooked numerous thoughts
Chasing ephemeral joys
Obscuring its true nature

As I sat down in peace
A certain joy enveloped me
That no worldly joy can compare with
It was just bliss

I discovered myself
When perspectives changed
From inside out
To outside in

Mad as a Hatter

Tell us about a time when you flew into a rage. What is it that made you so incredibly angry?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us RAGE.

Burning within and without
Rage has no meaning!

Fear Factor

November 29, 2013 4 comments

I am posting a poem on Courage which I had posted earlier.  I may be quite afraid of heights, reptiles and ghosts. But my greatest fear is of human psychos. I fear people who are vengeful, spend their time in witchcraft and black magic and those whose sole purpose of existence is to create fear and panic. These sadistic people get a thrill out of engaging in such acts throughout the day.

They may have gone through some form of abuse as kids and badly need the help of  society to wake them up from their ignorance. Only love and understanding can conquer this problem

Courage

When you are in the middle of critics
And not a  single soul believes you
When the whole world thinks you are a liar
Can you stand up for the truth?

When failure stares at you
When anguish, sorrow and pain confront you
When storms tear you asunder
Do you still follow your dream?

When there is a steep mountain to climb
And your legs are weak and tired
When the slope is slippery and arduous
Do you lose sight of your goal?

When this body is shrieking in agony
And the final moment nears
When the last breath is seeping out
Can you smile and face death?

Courage is not bravado
You don’t have to shout and roar
It is that little voice within you
That constantly guides you

Fright Night

November 20, 2013 Leave a comment

What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us FRIGHTENING.

I would say I am quite scared of sky diving or bungy jumping.  I would like to muster the courage to try out this someday!

I am posting here a poem which I have posted earlier on Fear

We shrink and we shrivel
Shivers go through our spine
It causes us to shriek and shout
We get palpitations and
Break into a sweat
What is this thing called fear?

Fear of failure
Fear of loss
Fear of the future
Fear of the dark
Fear of heights
Fear of the unknown

Let not your mind wander
into doubts and confusion
Courage and confidence
can quell all self-doubt
Take a deep breath
Recover your poise
There is nothing to fear
But fear itself!

Love to love you

November 18, 2013 1 comment

What do you love most about yourself? What do you love most about your favorite person? Are the two connected?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us LOVE.

All your life
We were the centre of your universe
How can I describe love
Patient, selfless, sincere?

The day I heard you speak
Tears streamed from my eyes
How can I describe love
Innocent, bright, wondrous?

The magic of your creation
Bewildering, Unfathomable
How can I describe love
Inspiring, Overwhelming, bliss

Shaking order into random motion
Blending art into my logic
Bringing music into mundane routine
Complementing the voids

Trying to define love
Is shining a candle to the sun
Lifting the veil of ignorance
Lead me into your light

Intense

November 6, 2013 1 comment

Describe the last time you were surprised by the intensity of a feeling you had about something, or were surprised at how strongly you reacted to something you thought wouldn’t be a big deal.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us INTENSE.

Focussed and spirited
We embrace your warmth
Sustainer of life
Fiery, intense

Nothing else matters
When lost in your love
A roller-coaster of emotions
Caring, intense

Playing with toys
Lost in time
The look in your eyes
Free, intense

Living our lives
With joy and gratitude
We unite the world
Peace, intense

Harmony

October 18, 2013 1 comment

Your entire community — however you define that; your hometown, your neighborhood, your family, your colleagues — is guaranteed to read your blog tomorrow. Write the post you’d like them all to see.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us COMMUNITY.

harmony

Like a ripple in a pond
Starting at the centre of the heart
Love flows
Touching the hearts of family
The immense sacrifices of parents
Shared experiences of siblings

Then the ripple grows into a wave
To touch the neighbourhood
Breaking from limited confines
Melting hearts and minds
Reaching out to the community
To help, to share and to serve

The wave gushes forward
Uniting the whole nation
In a symphony
The music reverberates
Countries unite
People of all races, creed and colour
Singing a song in harmony

Childlike: Innocence

October 16, 2013 2 comments

Explain your biggest regret — as though to a small child.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us CHILDLIKE.
(Here I am posting again a poem which I wrote on Innocence.  It is not a regret but I would say we have to keep that childlike Innocence alive in us to live a happy life )

fathers-love

Those sparkling eyes, that charming smile
That countenance full of love
You cast a spell on everyone,
Innocence, you are a child!

Your naughty pranks, your witty lies,
Your cries and your giggles
I have no answer to your endless queries
Innocence, you are a child!

You know no caste, you know no creed
You know no envy and pride
You put to shame, men at war
Innocence, you are a child!

I watch you sleep, undisturbed
A picture of serenity!
With a smile on your face and a tear in your eye
Innocence, you are a child!

Significant

October 14, 2013 Leave a comment

Your personal sculptor is carving a person, thing, or event from the last month of your life into the glistening marble of immortality. What’s the statue and what makes it so significant?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us SIGNIFICANT.

How can I give a shape
To one who is formless
How can I demean your
Infinite glory

Your presence enlivens
Awakens and brightens
We are just listless
Without that divine essence

The hand that paints
Or  rocks the cradle
Are pulled by strings
In your creative hands

You are the abundance
The sight and the seen
All – encompassing
SIGNIFICANT

My smart wife: Unplugged

October 9, 2013 4 comments

samsung s4

Sometimes, we all need a break from these little glowing boxes. How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us UNPLUGGED.

I have a smart wife now
And so do millions of others
She is decked in her best outfit
And she has a feather touch

Everyone ogles
Cuddles and fondles her
They run their fingers over her
And toy with her

If I am lost she has a GPS
If I am playful she has temple run
When I am bored she plays music
She has an answer to all my queries

She never every complains
Unless she is hungry
Then I feed her power
And she starts to play again

But one day I realised
She had taken control over my life
I had stopped jogging and cycling
And was addicted to her

Then one day she started acting dumb
And simply would not work
I took her to a nubox clinic
They said she had a viral infection

So now I know when to unplug
And leave my smart wife alone
Cause she can make you really dumb
If you spend the whole day with her
