Divide
Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt : “Divide”
The word ‘Divide’ evokes negative emotions. Our mind pictures images of walls, strife, partition and borders. Society has created these divisions based on colour, caste, race, creed, language and religion.
Today is there a world where one does not belittle another? A world where we do not want to clone everyone into stereotypes but rather celebrate our uniqueness, imperfections and variety?
Is there a world where hunger and poverty do not kill thousands everyday? —Where the greed of the rich who are never satisfied leaves the poor to starve for a morsel everyday?.
Today – this seems like a Utopian dream!
Tagore once dreamed that our country wakes up to such a world not divided by narrow domestic walls of hatred (Where the mind is without fear by Rabindranath Tagore).
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
