Japan earthquake

The earth shook, trembled and shivered
The ground cracked, highways were torn asunder
Houses collapsed and buildings fell
A resilient nation was brought to its knees

A giant tsunami rose from the waters
Engulfing all within its path
Cars, ships, trains and houses
Piled up amidst the rubble

People stood and watched in shock
The world witnessed shocking images
Natures fury at its play
Lives lost, broken and shattered

The earth has finally gone to sleep
Leaving rubble in a heap
Tears and cries of survivors
And bodies of  the dead

Japan, Land of the Rising Sun
Your spirit still strong
Rise like a phoenix from the ashes
And carry on your song

The more devastation I see in Japan ..the more grateful I feel for all the small joys of everyday life..
